The Lisbon Council hosted Viviane Reding, European Commissioner for telecommunications and media yesterday for a landmark speech on “Digital Europe: Europe’s Fast-Track to Economic Recovery.” It was so refreshing to listen to a forward-looking, policy-savvy speech, laying out concrete plans for boosting employment and sustainable growth, after weeks of inward-looking institutional naval-gazing in Brussels. It’s excellent news that she has just received a third mandate to serve in the European Commission from the government of Luxembourg. Brussels needs more innovators like her, that stand up for consumer interests and fight for new market entrants and entrepreneurs. Here are the speech and some short videoclips:
